Luis Orellana attended CIGRE Aalborg. CIGRE stands for Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Electriques (French for interational council on large electric systems).
He presented his paper On Resonance Instabilities in VSCs Connected to Weak Grids. The work comprises modelling techniques used to asses stability of grid-connected voltage source converters (VSCs), which were tested for weak grid scenarios. The presentation was during the ‘SSR, control interactions and instabilities’ session, where he discussed his results and received useful feedback from both academic and industrial colleagues.
He then took the opportunity to visit one of the largest offshore wind-farms connected to the grid through alternating current (AC) transmission; Anholt is a 400 MW (megawatt) Danish offshore wind-farm located in the Kattegat area.
