Daniel Westerman Spier attended the 23rd European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE – 2021) sponsored by IEEE.
He was pleased to present, ‘Optimization-based reference calculation for Modular Multilevel Converters in balanced and unbalanced network conditions’, during the Session LS2a – Topic 2: Grid Connected Converters.
The paper presents a better understanding of the how the Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) operates under balanced and unbalanced alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) network voltage conditions, to comply with Transmission System Operator (TSO) requirements. The converter’s design limits are considered also in the optimisation algorithm formulation, ensuring it operates properly.
