Khutwa, as a Qaddumi Foundation (QF) initiative, organised the online session “Pillars of Education as a Driver of the Palestinian Economy “. It hosted the Palestinian Prime Minister, Dr Mohammad Shtayyeh, and QF’s chairman, Dr Nabil Qaddumi. QF’s executive director, Ms Rana Diab, chaired the talk.
The Prime Minister presented the economic and education situation in Palestine, especially during the Covid19 pandemic. He discussed the incoming changes to education – from high school to postgraduate – and the various programmes currently (or that will be) available to support start-ups, fresh graduates and entrepreneurs. The talk garnered a remarkable turnout from attendees representing various sectors of the Palestinian community.
Motaz Ayiad explained his role within InnoDC, and expressed the interest of many Palestinian overseas graduates in wishing to participate in Palestine’s development. As a scientist, photographer and designer, he is a natural education mentor. His designs include InnoDC’s renewable energy model, which he created with Wei Liu and Davide Pinzan, and can be seen in the Work Package 1 video. They demonstrated it at a renewable energy workshop, Cardiff, and at Motaz and Stephen Hardy’s Science Projects Workshop, Brussels.
His numerous skills, enthusiasm and ability to explain science to people of all ages and backgrounds will be valuable education tools once he returns to Palestine.
