Peng Yang, Emily Maggioli, Daniel Westerman Spier and Anubhav Jain attended the 45th Annual Conference of the Industrial Electronics Society in Lisbon. Daniel presented his paper Steady-State Analysis of the Modular Multilevel Converter. It describes the steady-state analysis of the Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) for balanced and unbalanced AC grid conditions. Unlike conventional approaches, which use differential and additive quantities, the suggested study derives the converter’s arm quantities separately in the abc reference frame. As a result, all the MMC degrees of freedom can be fully exploited.
Peng presented two papers A four-leg buck inverters for three-phase four-wire systems with the function of reducing DC-bus ripples and A SiC-based neutral leg for the three-phase four-wire inverter. He then talked to experts from companies and universities, and gained inspiration for his own research by attending the keynote speech.
Anubhav presented his co-authored paper Black Start by HVdc-connected Offshore Wind Power Plants, and appreciated expert industry and academic feedback. He used the opportunity to instigate collaboration idea discussions.
Emily Maggioli presented Overview on the Impact, Interactions and Challenges faced by AC Transmission Protection Systems with HVDC Technology.
