Luis Orellana successfully completed his secondment at Cardiff University in summer / autumn 2019. He received valuable supervision from InnoDC’s Prof Jun Liang and Dr Carlos Ugalde-Loo, and from former MEDOW researcher, Dr Tibin Joseph. They helped him continue an experimental validation (hardware in the loop – HIL) of the research he is doing at CITCEA-UPC about multi-infeed grid-connected voltage source converters (VSCs). The test rig accomplished allows the analysis of power converter impact in conventional alternating current (AC) grids for different case scenarios, such as weak grids.
