Jovana Dakic completed a 4-month secondment at Vattenfall, February – June 2021, in the Grid Study team, under Matthias Dernbach and Dr Jayachandra Sakamuri‘s supervision.
She worked on her PhD tool’s validation by implementing updated component and cost data from real-time projects. She presented the results to different internal organisations, and proved the tool efficient for various offshore transmission system designs. (We cannot share her presentations as they are confidential).
Her employer, UPC, and Vattenfall have since discussed collaborating further to develop the work.
Despite the secondment being virtual, she fully experienced the industrial atmosphere and learned about large corporate structure. She received positive feedback, which encouraged her to complete her thesis and continue contributing to offshore-wind project plans.
